A VICTORIAN police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Moama in 2008 has been committed to stand trial in Wagga on April 12.
Simon Christopher Bourke, 40, appeared in Deniliquin Local Court on Friday, charged with two counts of sexual assault.
The charges follow an investigation in 2015 by Victoria Police’s Taskforce Salus before being referred to NSW Police in March 2016.
The investigation arose from a report in April 2008 by a 47-year-old woman that she had been sexually assaulted by an off-duty Sergeant from Eastern Region.
Bourke has been suspended with pay.
