THE Echuca-Moama community is being reminded to once again get their purple gear on this week to help raise awareness for epilepsy.
Echuca Purple Day organiser Shirley O’Bree said she hoped that everyone would get involved in the event, which this year is being held on Sunday, March 26.
‘‘We have 80 shops getting involved on the day by wearing purple and selling raffle tickets,’’ she said.
‘‘I hope this year we can again raise upwards of $3000 for the Epilepsy Foundation.’’
Mrs O’Bree said she hoped the event would bring more awareness and understanding of epilepsy.
‘‘When you go purple, you not only help raise additional funds to provide ongoing services to those who need it, but you also generate much needed awareness of the issues that people with epilepsy face,’’ Mrs O’Bree said.
The annual event culminates with a Purple Day morning tea on Thursday from 10am at Cunningham Downs Community Centre, Mt Terrick Rd, Echuca.
