Hit-and-run driver remanded in custody until end of month

April 18, 2017

A WOMAN accused of a hit and run in Echuca in January has been remanded in custody until later this month.

Tiffany Walsh, 27, appeared in Bendigo Magistrates Court on Thursday where it was adjourned to April 27.

She is charged with intentionally causing injury, dangerous driving, disqualified driving and several other driving offences.

A 42-year-old Echuca woman was walking home with a family member on the corner of Hovell and Eyre streets when she was hit about 11.15pm on January 10.

Senior Constable Bree George of Campaspe Criminal Investigation Unit said it appeared the vehicle drove straight at the woman as she was walking on the edge of the road.

‘‘She went up over the bonnet of the car and landed on the road,’’ she said.

‘‘The vehicle did not stop and render any assistance.’’

The woman was taken to Echuca hospital where she was kept in for observation for two nights with soreness and bruising and a possible knee injury.
