The trial of a Victorian police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Moama in 2008 has been postponed.

THE trial of a Victorian police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Moama in 2008 has been postponed.

Simon Christopher Bourke, 40, appeared in Sydney Downing Centre on Wednesday, charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent. It was listed for callover in the same court on November 15.

The charges follow an investigation in 2015 by Victoria Police’s Taskforce Salus before being referred to NSW Police in March 2016.

The investigation arose from a report in April 2008 by a 47-year-old woman that she had been sexually assaulted by an off-duty Sergeant from Eastern Region.

Bourke has been suspended with pay.
