MURRAY Human Services (MHS) FUNRaisers committee raised $12,000 in 2016.

The committee was formed as a replacement following the conclusion of MHS Kanyana Auxiliary after more than 35 year of tireless work.

The committee’s 11 members raised the money from two movie night fundraisers and an Oaks Day function at Rich River Golf Club.

Twenty-one people including members of the FUNRaisers committee, staff and clients attended a lunch on Wednesday last week where the committee presented the money to MHS.

Committee member Marilyn Winterton said the committee had a very rewarding 12 months.

‘‘This is a way for us to give back,’’ she said.

MHS chief executive Scott Alexander thanked the FUNRaisers committee for the generous donation.

The money will be used to purchase equipment for MHS Francis St site including a barbecue, outdoor setting, TV and maintenance with the remaining proceeds to go towards various activities throughout MHS’s Echuca sites.

The FUNRaisers Committee’s next event is a movie night at the Paramount on Monday, May 29, at 7pm with a special screening of The Zookeeper’s Wife.

A light supper will be provided and tickets are $20.

They are available from MHS at 461 High St.
