Artist’s journey takes him from beaches to the bush

June 12, 2017

DON’T miss the exhibition by Echuca artist Laurie Gay, which finishes on June 30.

From Beaches to the Bush is not just the name of his exhibition at Alton Gallery but his journey.

The former Batemans Bay resident has gone from beaches to bush in his backyard and his artwork explores this move.

A love of the great Australian landscape has inspired Laurie to travel throughout Australia gathering material for his realistic paintings.

Working exclusively in acrylic paints, he is a self-taught artist who has attended many workshops over the years to hone his unique style.

His inspiration comes from the ever-changing colours of regional Australia, the wide open spaces, big skies and ever-changing landscape.

Laurie’s exhibition is open on Fridays from 10am to 3pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

■Entry is free at Alton Gallery, 111 Hare St, Echuca.
