MHS team is planning to make its own magic

June 15, 2017

HERE’S your chance to put your spare cents to sensible use — and support the ‘Murray Magics’ on their journey to the 2017 Tri-State Games.

The Murray Human Services (MHS) team are running a ‘five cent drive’ to fundraise for the 17 athletes competing in Horsham for the week-long event which will be held during November.

The games have been established to promote friendly competition for adults with a disability and participants travel from all over Australia to compete in modified events in indoor sports, track and field, swimming and team sports.

MHS’s marketing and communication co-ordinator Glynis Kelly said donation tins are at all four MHS sites; High St north, High St south, Francis St and Percy St.

‘‘We are hoping to raise $500 and we encourage the general public to call in to donate their spare five cents,’’ she said.

‘‘The money that is raised will go towards covering the costs of transport, accommodation and meals for the athletes.’’

The organisation has been sending teams to the games for more than 10 years, this time competing across the board in bowls, swimming and athletics.

The team will be chalk drawing on the Echuca South Netball Courts on Monday June 16 at 1pm.
