SCHOOL holidays are covered at the Cohuna library.

SCHOOL holidays are covered at the Cohuna library.

The Gannawarra library service is offering art projects as well as a special ‘Robot Zoo’ program where children will be able to make moving animals out of Lego Technic.

Library services manager Kerri Sidorow said the program caters for a range of ages and interests.

‘‘The theme of the upcoming school holiday program is ‘wonderful workshops’ and we have put together a program of activities that will see children expand their creative mind and learn new skills in mosaics, crochet and applique,’’ she said.

To complement the upcoming Youth Arts Festival, the library local art teacher Shelley Mitchell will run a selection of art workshops suitable for children aged seven and above.

In the two hour session children will create their own mosaics.

There will also be crochet workshops on offer which are split into two parts — the morning session will be a skills workshop, teaching the participants how to crochet small flowers and in the afternoon the staff will be available for those who want to come back to practice their new skill.

The ‘Robot Zoo’ lego workshop will see replicas of creatures including fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals created.

“All activities are free and have limited capacity so we encourage people to sign up today so you don’t miss out on your spot in these wonderfully creative workshops,’’ Ms Sidorow said.

■Mosaics workshop: Thursday, July 13, 10am-12pm, 15 places only.

■Crochet workshop: Friday, July 7 10.30am-11.30am and 3pm-4pm, 12 places only.

■Activities are free but bookings are essential. To book contact Cohuna library on 5456 2124.
