AN EXHIBITION is once again featuring some of the region’s best Aboriginal artwork and will open in Echuca on Friday.
The Aboriginal Community Art Exhibition will open at the Foundry Arts Space and will feature a range of locally-made works including paintings, ceramics and textiles.
The month-long exhibition will feature around 20 artists and is open every day until July 23.
Echuca-Moama Arts Initiative president Anne Mawson said the exhibition is growing each year.
‘‘This is the second year we have held it at the Foundry,’’ she said.
‘‘The audience is always great on the opening night and this year we are having some bush tucker and a group of Aboriginal girls singing.’’
Ms Mawson said through organising these exhibitions her knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture has increased.
‘‘There are so many stories to tell and art is a great way to talk about and create more understanding of Aboriginal culture. I think that is really important especially for the non-indigenous population,’’ she said.
■The exhibition opens at 6pm on Friday.
