CHRISTOPHER Bell has hit the jackpot.
The grade three Echuca 208 Primary School student was the first person to tip all 10 games correctly — the nine AFL games plus one local match — in the Riv’s AFL footy tipping.
Despite almost tipping the Brisbane Lions by mistake, and getting a bonus with the drawn game between Hawthorn and Greater Western Sydney, Christopher was jumping for joy when he got the phone call he had won the $1100 to spend at local participating businesses.
‘‘I was excited,’’ he said.
‘‘I get some help from dad every week when he gets the ladder up on his phone.’’
Although he is sitting behind his dad in the tips, he is catching up fast.
‘‘I hope I can beat my dad,’’ he said.
When asked for some tips the nine-year-old tipster wouldn’t give away any secrets, preferring to remain tight-lipped.
‘‘I just tip who I think will win,’’ he said.
He isn’t quite sure what he will spend the money on either, looking to his mother for some guidance.
‘‘Maybe I might get a good footy,’’ he said.
After 11 weeks without anyone getting the jackpot, it is now back down to $100 for this week.
