Brazen burglar caught in the act

July 13, 2017

AN ECHUCA family was left in shock after an intruder entered its home and tried to drive off in a car early this morning.
The man woke the family about 1.30am when he snuck into the Pakenham St home and stole a set of car keys while the father was asleep on the couch just metres away.
They were awoken by the sound of the garage door opening and when the father went to investigate, he found the man sitting in his daughter’s vehicle.
The father asked the man what he was doing and he replied ‘‘old mate on the couch’’ said he could take it.
Eventually the man fled on foot. An iPhone 4 was allegedly stolen and another vehicle was ransacked.
Police arrested a 19-year-old Echuca man not far from the house soon after and he will be charged on summons for aggravated burglary.
