Triple J producers Veronica Milsom and Lewis Hobba talk with mayor Brian Gibson.

GANNAWARRA Mayor Brian Gibson has handed over the first keys to Cohuna — and they have gone to Triple J presenters Veronica and Lewis following the completion of a number of set challenges last week.

In recognition of the event — and its success — Cr Gibson undertook an official presentation to the duo during their afternoon drive show.

‘‘Veronica and Lewis have been fantastic, they really embraced the concept of the challenges and following some assessment and feedback from the locals who were present during the challenges,’’ he said.

‘‘I can say that I am more than satisfied they were completed to a standard worthy of the keys to Cohuna.

‘‘At the start of the challenges I made it pretty clear that gaining the keys to Cohuna would be no easy feat and it would involve some grit and determination.’’

Cr Gibson agreed that the Triple J Keys Challenge had been an amazing experience for the town and the region.

‘‘The council really wishes to thank each and every person in the Gannawarra community and beyond who got behind the campaign and got Triple J here,’’ he said.

‘‘Before leaving, Veronica picked out a duck for the Big Cohuna Festival, which is held on the Melbourne Cup weekend.

And they have selected number 80, and if their duck wins, have also pledged to come back and collect their prize.’’
