CAMPASPE Shire Council has clarified part of the 800m Port of Echuca Railway line will in fact be demolished.
Council decided to remove the line from council’s asset register earlier this year.
Part of that recommendation said it would not be demolished, but at the meeting recently councillor Annie Vickers asked council to clarify its position.
Instead of saying the line will not be demolished council changed it to not be ‘‘completely demolished’’.
At the meeting, councillor Neil Pankhurst said it aimed to achieve the intent of the first motion.
‘‘The original motion said it would not be demolished, part of it will be in fact demolished,’’ he said.
‘‘What we’re moving tonight seeks to say the track will not be completely demolished so it then allows the parts that may be demolished to be removed.
‘‘It’s really seeking to clarify our position ... and allow all council and councillors to undertake the intent of the original motion.’’
