ARE you looking for the purrfect friend?

There are more than 40 friendly felines in need of a loving family home and in a bid to move them on, Campaspe Animal Shelter is offering adoptions at heavily reduced prices.

Mayor Adrian Weston said unfortunately there was always a high demand for homing this time of year due to cats active breeding cycles.

Offering adoption at reduced prices is a way to reduce numbers at the shelter and help find kittens and cats a loving family home.

‘‘The Campaspe Animal Shelter takes in lost, seized or surrendered cats and dogs, providing them with a temporary home and care. Many of them return to their owners, yet sadly a lot are without homes and require adoption,’’ Cr Weston said.

All cats and kittens are desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. They have also been assessed as having good temperaments, making them suitable for rehoming.

‘‘We’re offering fully vaccinated cats over six months for $50 and kittens under six months for $77.50 until the end of August to reduce numbers at the shelter,’’ Cr Weston said.

‘‘Cats make ideal companions however individuals and families need to understand that it’s a long term commitment as a cat can live well into its teens. I encourage all those committed to giving a cat or kitten a forever home, to visit the Campaspe Animal Shelter and take advantage of the prices while they last.’’

The Campaspe Animal Shelter is open seven days a week at varying times. Cats and kittens for adoption can be viewed at: campaspeanimalshelter.com.au; Facebook or by calling 5480 3005 or visiting the centre on 520 McKenzie Road, Echuca.
