Last week it was reported that Peter Newman believed brumbies should be removed from Barmah National Park.

Mr Newman believes a small, heritage herd of brumbies should be allowed to remain in the park.
“I believe they’ve earned their place in the forest,” Mr Newman said.
“99 per cent of people who come up want to see the brumbies. It’s one of the few places where you can still see one.”
Mr Newman said he’d never like to see thousands of feral horses in the park, but to cull them entirely on grounds of environmental damage was “rubbish”.
“I’ve never seen the numbers go above 200 all my life,” he said.
“The water comes up and kills the foals, natural selection, mozzies, everything keeps their numbers in check.”
