ANIMAL lovers are licking their lips in anticipation for RSPCA Victoria’s sweetest fundraiser of the year.
RSPCA Cupcake Day will be held on Monday, August 21 with all money raised going towards helping animals in need.
This is a cause close to the heart of Moama’s Belinda Preen.
Belinda and her friend April have three dogs and two cats and said RSPCA is a cause every animal owner should support.
‘‘We love animals and we want all animals to be as happy and healthy as our own,’’ she said.
‘‘RSPCA Cupcake Day is part of a conscious effort, on our behalf, to support our less fortunate furry friends.’’
Belinda and April are holding their fundraising event in the canteen at their workplace, Nestle Tongala.
‘‘Our colleagues and us will be baking items including cupcakes, biscuits and slices,’’ Belinda said.
‘‘We will be donating them for the event and all funds raised going to the RSPCA.’’
Belinda said animals are vulnerable and the Echuca-Moama community should get behind the cause.
‘‘Animals can’t speak for themselves, so it is up to the community to raise awareness and funds to protect and heal our vulnerable friends,’’ she said.
RSPCA Victoria chief executive Dr Liz Walker said RSPCA Cupcake Day was an opportunity for friends, family, work mates and social groups to get together while raising money to help RSPCA rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals.
‘‘Each year RSPCA Victoria helps thousands of animals and we rely on the generosity of our fundraisers to continue our vital work,’’ she said.
Anyone who registers as a RSPCA Cupcake Day host receives a free host kit with host guide, pop-up donation box, decorative bunting, promotional posters and a recipe book that even includes pup-friendly cupcakes.
