ANGLICARE Victoria’s Echuca branch has this week received $6000 funding from the Bendigo Bank and the Tee Up For Kids Foundation to go towards local children who reside in out-of-home care.

The money was raised through seven golf days held throughout regional Victoria by the Bendigo Bank, with the money for the Echuca office being raised through a golf day held at the Bendigo Golf Club. Francis Lynch, the regional director for the St Luke’s region of Anglicare Victoria, said that the money would be a significant help to its programs — and it would be vital in getting the support to the children who needed it.

‘‘This funding will make sure that these kids won’t have to miss out on a proper education and that they are always given every opportunity they can to get one,’’ he said.

The new funding will be spent on getting tutors for the children and in allowing them to go on camps that they would otherwise miss, to name just a couple of the things that kids in out-of-home situations need to be given a good education.

A total of $40,000 was raised for the Tee Up For Kids foundation, which included $18,000 for Anglicare Victoria’s St Luke’s region.
