Nominations closing shortly

NOMINATIONS to join the inaugural Murray River Council will close midday on Wednesday.

Prospective councillors are reminded they must register before they accept political donations or make electoral expenditure.

Voting at the September 9 election is compulsory for Australian citizens aged over 18 and enrolled in the council area.

The NSW Electoral Commission is managing the election.

The council is a result of an amalgamation between Murray and Wakool shires.
