ROUND two of the Campaspe Shire Council’s Community Grants Program is now open, offering financial support to not for profit groups within the community.

Campaspe Mayor Adrian Weston said all community organisations, groups and associations who require financial support for upcoming projects or events are encouraged to apply.

‘‘The Community Grants Program provides the opportunity for not for profit local community groups to seek funding to assist with the important works they provide to our community,’’ he said.

An amount of $112,000 is available for round two of the grants which close on Friday, September 15.

‘‘From environmental initiatives, cultural exhibitions, community events and everything in between, community grants fund a diverse array of projects,’’ Cr Weston said.

There are two categories in which groups are eligible.

Event grants aim to encourage and assist the development and implementation of events.

The maximum grants available are $1000 for community events, $3000 for minor events and $5000 for major events. Community support grants supports the delivery of programs, projects and activities that benefit the residents of Campaspe Shire with amounts available up to $4000.

Application forms and guidelines for round two of the program can be downloaded from council’s website and are available in hard copy from all customer service centres.

‘‘We strongly encourage prospective applicants to discuss their project with the relevant council officer prior to submitting an application to ensure it complies with the guidelines and that the project time is in keeping with the grants program funding scheme,’’ Cr Weston said.

Following assessment of applications those recommended for approval will be considered at the November council meeting.

Funds will be presented to successful groups in December.
