A ROCHESTER man has been charged following the theft of more than $10,000 worth of equipment from Kennaughs Garden Centre in Echuca.

Detectives from Echuca arrested the 51-year-old at his home on Wednesday and following an interview later charged him with burglary and theft.

The man allegedly drove into the grounds of the business about 11am last Wednesday and stole a top con dual grade laser, cable drive pump and tool box with Kincrome socket sets spanners from the earthmoving workshop.

The man was also charged with breaching parole, with the Adult Parole Board deciding yesterday to cancel his parole and return him to prison.

The man was sentenced to seven years’ jail, with a non-parole period of four years, for an armed robbery in Shepparton in April, 2012.

He will appear in Echuca Magistrates Court on October 31 over the Kennaughs theft.
