BAMAWM Extension hall was a hive of activity last month for Twin Rivers Probus Club’s version of the Commonwealth Games.

About 30 competitors and officials gathered in the hall on July 20, pumping out a rendition of Advance Australia Fair before going head-to-head in a series of events, including memory tests using cards.

‘‘As the nearby Olympic-size pool was not entirely ready, the swimming event was cancelled; besides it was too cold,’’ Probian Terry Nanscawen joked.

‘‘As the hive of activity abated and events were completed, aggregate scores were compiled, with several ladies ahead of the men and (pictured) medals awarded.

‘‘After a well-earned break and a hearty lunch, those who remained took on two games of 10-end bowls, playing on to 3pm or so; then trotting off to a table laden with cream cakes and other delicacies.

‘‘Well sated and ready to leave the hall, the most asked question from the members was: ‘Do we have to wait another four years to have this much fun?’’’
