Gannawarra starts review

August 10, 2017

GANNAWARRA Shire is starting the process to review the Local Laws Community Amenities No 1 by hosting a series of community consultations.

Infrastructure and development director Geoff Rollinson said the Local Law Community Amenities outlines rules to ensure peace, order and good government of the municipality.

‘‘This particular Local Law relates to a wide variety of issues including use of public reserves, consumption of alcohol in public spaces, use of streets, roads, footpaths and council land, keeping of animals and disposal of rubbish,’’ he said.

‘‘All residents, ratepayers and visitors to Gannawarra Shire are responsible for complying with Local Laws and it is council’s job to provide education and enforcement of these.’’

Over the next two months council officers will be attending community progress and development group meetings across the shire as well as hosting two open sessions for the community to come and speak.

Cohuna’s session will be held at the Cohuna Community Meeting Room at 7pm on Monday, August 14.

Community members will also be able to have their say via the website at and the current Local Law is located on Council’s website for viewing.

Submissions close Wednesday, September 27.
