ECHUCA District Netball Association recently hosted its annual representative teams dinner at Moama Bowling Club.

Georgina Byrne received one of the highest honours on the night — the June Healey memorial award.

Other recipients were Lizzie Halloran, Alice Davidson and Chloe Stone but Byrne was the overall winner.

The award is given to the most outstanding representative player from the under 13 and 15 squads with the overall winner chosen by a selection panel.

Players who had shown a vast overall improvement this season received the Hakkas Encouragement Award with Jorja Oliver, Claire Byrne, Corey Drennan and Raina Fimmel each chosen from their respective teams.

The Carmel Mackenzie Development Award was again awarded to a player from each development team with Georgia Weier, Chloe Power, Cordelia Fry-Smith, Hayley Newton, Maya Kadri and Charli Greiner all recognised for their ongoing improvement.

This year special recognition was given in the form of a spirit in sport medallion.

Tayla Wagner was the successful recipient in appreciation of her contribution to the game throughout the representative season.

This year’s award winners all received a framed player profile and medallion with Byrne also receiving an engraved jewellery box and perpetual trophy as part of the June Healey memorial award.
