ECHUCA library celebrated its fifth birthday on Saturday, August 26.

Library services manager Jenny Mustey said it was a huge success with about 500 people coming through the doors throughout the morning.

‘‘Everyone had a great time,’’ she said.

‘‘We would like to thank Friends of the Library who ran activities on the day.

‘‘Our first five years have been awesome. To think about all the events we’ve had, everything we’ve done, and all the people we’ve had through the doors is pretty amazing.

‘‘We’ve got many more great years to come.’’

The party started on Friday night with the hosting of the sixth Victorian regional heat of the Australian Poetry Slam.

It was the second time Echuca hosted the national event, the previous being in 2013.

On the Saturday, the library hosted a free family fun day.

Matteo the storyteller had the children’s imaginations running wild with his interactive and engaging storytelling techniques.

Meanwhile, youngsters were given the opportunity to decorate and take home biscuits or get their faces painted.
