OPPORTUNITIES for junior netballers to compete in the Goulburn Valley League have opened up in 2018.
The league will introduce a 15-and-under netball competition next season joining with the current A, B, B reserve and 17-and-under grades across five timeslots.
League chairman David Roff said the 15-and-under age group had been a talking point among clubs for a couple of years.
‘‘The GVNL put the concept to clubs for a vote last year and with the coming together of the GVFL and GVNL this season the matter was again raised with clubs for their discussion and feedback,’’ he said.
‘‘A significant majority of clubs were in favour of the move so the board has to now endorsed it to proceed.’’
‘‘Clubs have already begun working with their local junior associations to assist with the transition and its another exciting innovation for the growth of the league.
‘‘2018 will be a pilot year to give clubs a chance to work in with their local environment with the competition to be fully operational for 2019.’’
A working party consisting of board member Jacqui Hudgson, club representatives Rochelle Hannon, Stacey Cole, Kate Carlile, Kelli Hill, Colleen Egglestone and Netball Victoria’s Josie Logan had been established to investigate the structure of the new competition and to establish the logistics of its implementation.
