POLICE are investigating a stabbing at Tongala on Monday.

Detective Senior Constable Bernadette Waddington of Campaspe Criminal Investigation Unit said an altercation between two men at Tongala Caravan Park about 12.20pm resulted in one man being stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

The man, aged in his 20s, suffered non life-threatening injuries and took himself to Shepparton hospital.

‘‘We have spoken to him but he is being unco-operative,’’ she said.

‘‘Our inquiries are continuing into that.’’

Snr Constable Waddington said she had interviewed a 37-year-old Tongala man but he had been released without charge.

‘‘We are also looking to speak to a woman in her early 20s,’’ she said.

A woman from the caravan park said she believed the incident stemmed from a domestic between a couple.

‘‘They had a big fight and the girlfriend left and came back with reinforcements and they got stabbed,’’ she said.

‘‘They came in looking for trouble.’’
