ECHUCA-MOAMA Hockey Club has a strong future with its under-13 and under-15 teams winning the grand final this year.
Both teams made it straight through to the grand final two weeks before defeating teams from SYC, 6-2 in the under 13s and 5-1 in the under 15s.
The under 13s kicked off the grand final day at Shepparton at 10.30am on Saturday, taking on SYC again and coming away with an astounding 4-0 victory.
Goal scorers were Jamie McLeod, Tess Harvey, Keeley Thompson and Sam Lowndes.
Echuca-Moama’s run of success continued in the under 15s as they also downed the team from SYC 4-0.
Goal scorers were Jenna Park (2), Chloe Kell and Courtney Thompson.
Presentations followed both games with a host of Rats players taking home awards.
Keeley Thompson was named under-13 player of the match while Sam Lowndes was awarded best and fairest for the boys in the junior country championships (JCC).
Both will play in the 2017 under 13 national hockey championships this month having made the Victorian representative teams earlier in the year.
Elyse Kerr was the JCC girls best and fairest winner.
In the under 15s, Shae Oliver picked up the JCC girls best and fairest and was named player of the match with Tayden Monigatti awarded the JCC boys best and fairest.
Ryan More was also congratulated on the day as the winner of the GVHA sportsman of the year award.
Echuca-Moama B women were the only senior team through to the grand final and will play on Saturday.
