RESULTS from the Murray River Council election will be available as they are counted once polls close at 6pm tomorrow.

The first results are estimated to be available about 6.30pm and most election night results by 10pm.

In David Shaw’s administrator’s column this week he encouraged anyone confused about the ward they reside in to come into a council office and view an enlarged map which shows the area.

‘‘I would also ask our residents and ratepayers to remember voting in the council election is compulsory,’’ he said.

‘‘The period after the election will be very hectic indeed for both the organisation and incoming councillors as they are inducted into the new council.

‘‘There will be professional development training, visits to each of the towns across the new council area and of course the first council meeting on September 26 when a mayor will be elected by the councillors.’’
