EMFM has a new life member.

Dianne Richmond has volunteered at the station since 2002, doing many shows and holding up the fort through the good and bad times as a board member.

‘‘I’m extremely proud and humbled to have received this honour,’’ Dianne said.

She has hosted countless shows, and also spent time as president and secretary of the station.

When asked what got her into the station, Dianne said it was a motivational speech by ex-Melbourne player, Todd Viney.

‘‘I was co-ordinating a Youth Program at Campaspe College at the time, and his speech taught me to bite the bullet,’’ she said.

‘‘I had a friend who was working at the station at the time, and he asked me to co-host a show with him.’’

It was after that show, that she was asked to host her own show.

‘‘I co-hosted two shows, one at breakfast time called Breakfast at Tiffany’s and another show called Gas Bag.

‘‘After that I hosted CFM Matinee.’’

Her favourite was Gas Bag because she had a fantastic co-host in Terrie Palmer, with whom she became very good friends.

She reflected on how the station has changed many lives.

‘‘It’s a great community asset,’’ Dianne said.

‘‘I love the station because it helps young people find confidence in themselves and we all share a passion for music.’’

She believes that the future of the station is bright.

‘‘The ongoing board are fantastic individuals and the station is in great shape both financially and professionally,’’ she said.
