Police at Nathalia nabbed two hoon p-plate drivers and impounded both cars in Barmah today.
Officers detected a Holden utility and Toyota coupe both travelling at 165km/h in a 100 zone on Barmah Shepparton Rd about 12.20pm.
The male drivers, who are friends from Kurunjang, on Melbourne’s western outskirts, were intercepted and subsequently had their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
The driver of the utility aged 19 and the driver of the Toyota aged 20 are expected to be charged on summons with driving in a manner dangerous.
The impounds forms part of Operation Scoreboard, a state wide focus on road user behaviour that will target speed, driver distraction, seatbelt non-compliance, fatigue and drink and drug driving in an effort to reduce road trauma.
The operation which started on Thursday at 12.01am will finish on Sunday 1 October at 11.59pm.
