THESE sounds are sure to comfort your soul.
For the first time the Echuca-Moama Uniting Church will welcome a string quartet to perform on Sunday as part of their Sounds for the Soul series.
The performance will feature the Crescendo String Quartet from 2pm.
Organiser Anne Peace said the church has perfect acoustics for a performance like this.
‘‘Now in our third year we are bringing our 12th guest performers to our community who are from the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne,’’ she said.
‘‘Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
‘‘There is nothing like music to relieve the soul and uplift it.
‘‘These quotes are the basis of the beginning of Sounds for the Soul in the Echuca Moama Uniting Church.’’
The quartet includes Misha Machiak on violin, Grace Gilkerson on cello, Eugenie Lyons on violin and Lizzy Scarlett on violin.
‘‘Misha has performed in Australia, New Zealand, England and Iceland and Grace has worked with many operatic and theatre companies,’’ Ms Peace said.
‘‘Eugenie has been playing with many orchestras as well as with chamber music ensembles and Lizzy has been performing a variety of roles, from soloist to chamber musician and orchestra member.
‘‘So we are very lucky to have this calibre of musicians perform for us.’’
The quartet will play Haydn, Strauss, Mozart and from the Frank Sinatra American Songbook and the Star Wars Medley.
The church is accessible with lift, ramp and stairs.
Tickets are $15 at the door.
