Cash to help in the fight against crime

October 06, 2017

LOCAL community groups are encouraged to apply for a share in round two of the Safer Communities Fund.

The fund provides grants of up to $1 million for security infrastructure initiatives that address crime and anti-social behaviour, help reduce the fear of crime and increase feelings of safety.

In April 2017, round one awarded $9.4 million to 65 organisations delivering crime prevention and security infrastructure projects.

Information on how to apply for funding is available at, or by calling 13 28 46. Applications close November 14.

Educational institutions are not eligible to receive funding under round two of the Safer Communities Fund, but will be able to apply under a new round of the Schools Security Programme which will open later this year.
