Bill and Violet Page use Intereach services.

INTEREACH helps you stay in your own home and connected to your community.

As you get older, maintaining your home and staying well can become more of a challenge.

But, if you’re an older person who is struggling with some tasks, or you just need a bit of extra support to stay living independently at home, Intereach can help.

Intereach offer a range of practical help and support for older people in the Echuca-Moama area, including help to stay in touch with family and friends, home maintenance and modifications, social support, meals, personal care and home care packages. If you are a carer, Intereach can also provide respite care if you need a break.

So how does it all work?

You phone Intereach Community Support on Freecall 1300 488 226 for an obligation free chat.

We get an understanding of your situation, lifestyle and interests and can then suggest a range of support options for you to choose from.

We explain the costs involved, and how it all works.

You then phone ‘My Aged Care’ to register and ask to work with Intereach.

Once confirmed, Intereach will arrange the times and dates of support to suit your schedule.

Intereach community support, senior manager Mellissa Harley said: “Getting older doesn’t have to mean losing your independence’’.

‘‘It is our goal to help you to live well in your own home as you get older,’’ she said.

‘‘Let us know what is important to you, and what would help you to keep living the lifestyle you want, and we can help make it happen.”

Continuing to live independently in their own home is important to Violet and Bill Page and Intereach work closely with them to ensure they can keep living the life they choose.

Physiotherapy helps them maintain their strength and agility, Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals and regular house and window cleaning helps with tasks they are finding more difficult to do themselves.

Some short-term memory loss can also make it tricky for Violet to remember appointments so regular scheduled phone calls from her Intereach care coordinator help jog her memory.
