GANNAWARRA Shire Council is calling for nominations for the 2018 Australia Day Awards.

GANNAWARRA Shire Council is calling for nominations for the 2018 Australia Day Awards.

The awards recognise members of the community for their endeavours, achievements and contribution to the community.

Council is seeking nominations in the following categories: Citizen of the Year Award and Young Citizen of the Year Award (15-24 years).

Mayor Brian Gibson said many residents work tirelessly for their communities and this is a great opportunity to recognise their efforts.

‘‘Many people don’t seek recognition but it is important to acknowledge dedicated volunteers, passionate community advocates and outstanding role models,’’ he said. ‘‘Communities like ours are successful because of the hard work, innovation and generosity of individuals, and these people deserve to be recognised.

‘‘If you know a deserving individual, that makes you proud to be Australian and makes Gannawarra Shire a better place to live, nominate now.’’

Forms are available from council’s customer service centres and from www.gsc.vic.gov.au

Entries close on December 1.
