FOUR-TIME defending midweek division one premiers Moama made the perfect start to their 2017/18 campaign last week with a strong win against Rochester.

Moama dropped one of the three rinks but had more than enough to take the points, winning 80-62.

The team it beat in last season’s decider, Deniliquin, also made a winning start, beating Echuca Blue 86-56, winning two of three rinks on offer.

Echuca White was the most dominant of division one winners in round one, taking all three rinks in a dominant display against Rich River on its way to a 90-63 result.

■ THE weekend pennant division one grand final rematch between Moama and Tongala has gone the same way as last season’s decider.

Moama, winners last season 69-63, was even more dominant in round one, winning 91-59, with 13, 12 and seven shot wins on the three rinks.

Echuca made a similarly strong start with a 90-50 win against Mathoura, while Deniliquin knocked off Rich River 79-66.

In the final game of the round, Rochester took down Deni RSL 96-57.

In division two, Lockington’s top side made a winning start, defeating Rich River by 11 shots, while Echuca won a thriller by a single shot against Mathoura.
