I AM AUSTRALIAN.
They are the words Martina Richardson can say now after receiving her Australian citizenship.
Initially from Denver, Colorado, Martina moved to the country for love.
‘‘I moved here in 2012 to live with my then Australian boyfriend — my now Australian husband,’’ she said.
She quickly became a permanent resident and started working at Moama Anglican Grammar School as a music teacher.
It was a passion she always had.
‘‘I love music, I am a musician and singer.
‘‘I was a member of many bands and in theatre companies doing plays,’’ she said.
Martina talked about how she feels like a member of the community.
‘‘It’s been great.
‘‘I have been welcomed by so many people here. Many of them have become my friends.
‘‘I honestly feel a part of the community,’’ she said.
She was one of four people who received citizenship last Tuesday in Echuca.
