BILLABONG Ranch Adventure Park won the excellence in tourism category.

The family-run business ‘‘didn’t expect’’ to come out on top.

‘‘This is a complete surprise,’’ owner Kerri Acquisto said.

‘‘We were up against some great tourism businesses and we are in great company in the twin towns.

‘‘This is for all our family and staff who make all of it possible.

‘‘Most of them couldn’t be here tonight because they were working.’’

Kerri said their hard work had paid off.

‘‘This award isn’t just great for us but it will create confidence in our staff and, more importantly, in our customers.

‘‘It is just very exciting.’’

Billabong Ranch is open seven days and offers a number of adventure activities providing the opportunity for visitors to try something new or test their skills.

There is on-site accommodation for groups and schools housing 120 people in several buildings and more than 25 activities to choose from.

Billabong Ranch is also the host of the Brumby Run being held on November 3.

There are three courses to choose from.
