Moama seeks second win to set season up

MOAMA has a good chance to make it two wins in a row in Goulburn Murray Cricket when it hosts Bamawm-Lockington United tomorrow.

It looked in brilliant nick with both bat and ball when demolishing Tongala by 210 runs last weekend, Layton McCann smashing his way to an unbeaten 132 before the bowlers easily defended the total.

The lethal opening bowling pair of Anthony McMahon and Darcy Elliott will be keen to have a crack at a BLU batting line-up that could only muster 95 runs last week against Rochester United.

BLU bowled well last week to keep United to 9/139 but will need to produce at the same level again to deal with Moama.

■ECHUCA will also be looking to make it two from two when battling Cooma.

It batted with confidence last weekend against Stanhope, chasing down the target of 150 with more than 12 overs to spare.

With seven of its batsmen making ducks last week, the Cooma line-up will badly need to lift if it is any hope of matching it with its opposition.

Simon Maddox took five wickets for Echuca and will be looking to make a similar impact this weekend.

■ECHUCA South’s batting line-up will need to raise its game if it is to take the challenge up to Stanhope.

Only Brad Jones (67) and Luke Thompson (29) reached double figures against Kyabram last round, the total of 132 not enough to stay in the contest.

The bowlers have just as much to improve on, only taking four wickets in 42 overs against the strong Fire Brigade batsmen.

■IN THE rounds other games, Tongala desperately needs to improve its batting if it is to challenge Rochester United, while Kyabram will face the Rochester Tigers.
