Dental clinic prepares to fly in

November 04, 2017

THE Royal Flying Doctor Service Dental Clinic will fly into Gannawarra Shire next month.

Eligible residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to get a check-up and treatment.

The service is a fully functioning dental clinic and has returned to the shire to offer screening and treatment options for residents.

Mayor Brian Gibson said council was pleased to welcome back the high profile Royal Flying Doctor Service as it continues to work with council and partnership agencies to improve oral health outcomes across Gannawarra communities.

“Most oral health problems can be prevented by brushing teeth twice a day, eating healthy foods like crunchy fruit and vegetables and consuming water as the drink of choice,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s also important to get regular check-ups with a dentist to prevent tooth decay in its early stages.’’

Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria primary health care manager Margaret Kuhne said anyone who was eligible for public dental can get a check-up and treatment in the clinic.

“We are pleased to return to Gannawarra Shire to provide dental screening and treatment,’’ she said.

‘‘Oral health is connected to overall health and those with poor oral hygiene often suffer other health issues.’’

The Royal Flying Doctor’s Service will operate from the Cohuna District Hospital from November 20 to December 1.
