The one way to stop plate theft is with one-way screws

November 10, 2017

Leading Senior Constable Andrew Beaumont of Echuca police with Echuca West Neighbourhood Watch members Alvin Briggs and Len Wills wll hold a safe plates day at Bunnings carpark on November 12.

ORGANISERS are encouraging people to make the most of the final Safe Plates Day for the year on Sunday.

Number plates are still being stolen across the region and Echuca West Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Len Wills said the only way to prevent it was to have one-way screws installed.

Which is why he is encouraging as many people as possible to head to Bunnings on Sunday, from 9am-2pm, to make that happen.

‘‘People can park and shop and have their plates fitted with one-way screws,’’ Mr Wills said.

‘‘This is the last one for the year so it would be great if we could get a lot of people along.

‘‘Bunnings have had two plates stolen out of their car park so we’ve still got a long way to go.’’
