MURRAY River Council has approved an ongoing contract between Family and Community Services (FACS) and council.
A funding deed was signed for a term of three years with the option of a two year extension.
The deed, which had entered into the extension period, is a written legal agreement between FACS and a service provider.
It allows the delivery of services to children, young people, families and communities.
Council recently received a request from FACS to vary the deed to remove the time limit and make it ongoing.
Usually when the deed expires any program level agreement would be automatically terminated.
This would mean council would no longer be contracted to provide services and FACS would not be able to provide funding.
