Injecting changes into council’s schedule

November 11, 2017

CAMPASPE Shire Council is changing its immunisation schedule for 2018 to better reflect the needs of the community.

Mayor Adrian Weston said immunisations would continue to be offered shire wide but with changes to some days and times to better reflect the demand of communities.

“Our services have been improved to meet current demand and continue to offer a full program of immunisations across the region,” he said.

Recently the community was given the opportunity to provide input into the shire’s immunisation program via an online survey.

‘‘We thank the community for providing council with valuable comment via the survey,’’ Cr Weston said.

‘‘The feedback received has gone a long way into ensuring ongoing community convenience and success of the program.’’

New changes effective January 2018 include:

■The introduction of an evening session in Rochester every second month, alternating monthly with day sessions.

■New venue in Rochester – Rochester Community House.

■Girgarre and Gunbower services continue to be available, strictly by appointment only.

■The service in both Colbinabbin and Nanneella will cease.

■Kyabram day service moved from Monday to Tuesday.

■New venue in Kyabram – Kyabram Community Learning Centre.

■Rushworth service has moved from Monday to Tuesday.

■Lockington, Rushworth, Stanhope and Tongala venues will now have MCH nurses available for appointments at the same time as scheduled immunisations.

“The immunisation rate within our shire is strong with 96.2 per cent of children aged 0 – 5 vaccinated, compared to Victoria at 93.1 per cent,’’ Cr Weston said.

The 2018 immunisation schedule is available on council’s website, customer service centres, immunisation sessions or the maternal and child health service.
