ECHUCA’S senior coaching appointments have made all the headlines, but it takes a team effort to keep the whole club functioning.
The Murray Bombers have finalised their line-up for next season, and club president Ash Byrne couldn’t be happier with it.
‘‘We’re rapt with what we have across the whole club,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve got Mick McInnes and Chris Thomas returning to coach the women’s teams after doing an awesome job this season.
‘‘All the netball coaches are super people and super coaches with great experience.
‘‘And all the junior coaches and co-ordinators at each level are tremendous; we couldn’t be happier.’’
Andrew Walker and Simon Maddox will share the senior position, to be supported by assistant coach Kane Morris.
Morris impressed in the ruck for the seniors in his fifth season at the club.
Ben Ridge retains his role coaching the development squad, with Trevor Borg joining the Murray Bombers from Echuca United as his assistant.
Nothern Country Women’s League coach of the year McInnes retains his role as senior women’s coach, Thomas remaining youth girls coach.
Leo Tenace will coach the under 18s with Francis Lias and Gary Norman as assistant coaches.
In juniors, Brendan Hogan and Craig Kirk will coach under 16 teams while David Bruns will coach the 14s.
Sam Kennedy, Shannon Cronin and Brett Armstrong will front the under 12 teams.
Justin Hatfield is junior coaching coordinator.
Byrne said each coach was vital in the club’s push to the top of the Goulburn Valley League.
‘‘We’re happy with every one of the appointments,’’ he said.
‘‘I’m sure they will all work well together and the players are the ones that will benefit from that.
‘‘It’s certainly very positive, and there’s a good feeling around the club with those two (Walker and Maddox) heading the footy department.’’
The Murray Bombers’ A grade netball will be coached by Gina Pearson, with Sharon Henson as assistant.
Penny Reinehr will coach B grade with Karlie Stevens as assistant, while Kelly Sutton will coach B reserve and Misty Howard will be assistant.
Pearson will also coach under 17s with last year’s A grade coach Casey Frame will coach the 15s. Maree Gray will be assistant coach for both.
‘‘They’re all super coaches. All the committee and all the coaches just work so well together,’’ Byrne said.
‘‘The last couple of seasons they have been a great stabilising influence on the whole club. We’re very fortunate to have that calibre of person at our club.’’
