AT LEAST 115 homes were without power following the storms in Echuca last week.
More than 80,000 homes and businesses were affected across the region with the hardest hardest hit areas being Mildura, Kyneton, Shepparton, Bendigo and Cobram.
On Wednesday, December 20, there were more than 90 wires down, about 29 trees on wires, and damage to poles, with crews working to attend more than 500 jobs across the network.
The extent of the damage meant some people were without power over night on Wednesday and through to Thursday.
‘‘As a result, restoration may take longer than usual and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause,’’ a Powercor spokesperson said on Wednesday.
‘‘We are endeavouring to keep restoration times up to date, however these may change as crews attend jobs and assess the damage.
‘‘We know power outages are frustrating and we thank customers for their patience and understanding as our crews work to restore power.
‘‘We will continue to update customers on restoration times via SMS, on our website at www.powercor.com.au or on 132412.’’
It was the biggest storm event to hit the Powercor network since 2007, with strong winds and heavy rain causing significant damage to poles and wires.
