SEVERE storms last week have damaged parts of Barmah National Park but Ulupna Island, Barmah Lakes day visitor area and campground remain open.
Parks Victoria has urged people planning on visiting the park to check online at www.parks.vic.gov.au before travelling to the area.
Area chief ranger Andrew McDougall said staff had worked hard to reopen affected areas before Christmas so visitors could enjoy the outdoors over the holiday period.
‘‘Currently there are a number of trees and limbs across tracks,’’ he said.
‘‘These are a hazard to drivers so we urge them to slow down.
‘‘Some walking tracks will remain closed until they have been assessed for dangers.’’
