Neil Pankhurst, Keith Oberin and Adrian Weston try out the new Local Ambassador Pass at the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre.

CAMPASPE Shire residents and those with the post code 2731 have unlimited access to the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre.

The Local Ambassadors Pass encourages locals to enjoy what is on offer in their own backyard.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Adrian Weston said the National Heritage Listed Echuca Wharf and historic museum are a major drawcard to the region and now Campaspe residents can access the iconic landmark at no charge and share this cultural legacy with family and friends.

“The rich history and cultural significance of the Port of Echuca is what defined the Campaspe region in the 1860s, linking the bustling river trade with rail and opening up regional farmers’ exports to world markets,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s great Campaspe residents can absorb the abundant history at absolutely no cost.’’

Eligibility for the Local Ambassadors Pass, requires residency within the Shire of Campaspe or within the postcode 2731.

To receive the pass, individuals and families are required to visit the Port of Echuca Discovery centre with proof of residency (a valid driver’s licence and recent utility bill) and staff will record details and issue the 12 month access pass.

The Ambassador Pass is issued annually, once your first 12 months have between completed the process is then required to be repeated for the next 12 months of your free unlimited entry to the centre.

“From Torrumbarry to Toolleen, Rochester to Rushworth – all Campaspe Shire residents are entitled to participate in this fantastic offer,” Cr Weston said. For more information go to
