THE profile of one of Echuca’s more risky intersections is undergoing a major overhaul as part of the new bridge development.

Echuca-Moama Bridge Project delivery manager Jason Warren said construction works to build the new roundabout at the intersection of the Murray Valley Hwy and Warren St are now well underway.

“The roundabout will replace the current ‘Y’ layout and when complete in mid-2018, the new roundabout will help boost safety and traffic flow for drivers,” Mr Warren said.

“More than 8000 vehicles pass through this intersection on the Murray Valley Hwy each day, including hundreds of trucks and heavy vehicles,” he said.

“The current works involve construction of the road formation and associated drainage for the future roundabout and connecting roads.

“Roadworks in this area include a reduced speed limit through the intersection for worker safety.

“Motorists should allow additional travel time through this location.”
