Teens arrested

TWO teenagers have been arrested over a burglary at an Echuca gym last month.

Detective Sergeant Shane Kervin of Echuca Investigation Unit said two offenders broke into FITmob in Hare St about 1.50am on December 22, by gaining access to the roof of an adjoining building and smashing a second-storey window.

Although nothing was stolen, a considerable amount of damage was caused inside the building.

Police attended the scene and arrested a 15-year-boy on the roof, who was interviewed and released pending summons.

The other offender — a 15-year-old boy from NSW — allegedly fled the scene before handing himself in on December 27.

He was charged with burglary and bailed to appear at a Children’s Court on March 20.

Crash injures two

TWO people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a crash in Tongala on Tuesday morning.

Leading Senior Constable Kris Sutton of Campaspe Highway Patrol said a 36-year-old Tongala woman was driving north along Day Rd when she went through a give way sign and struck a Ford station wagon, driven by a 35-year-old Tongala man east along Finlay Rd.

The woman was taken to Kyabram hospital where she was checked over and released and the man was taken to Echuca hospital where he was checked for neck soreness.

He was released later that day.

‘‘Both cars were extensively damaged and had to be towed,’’ Snr Constable Sutton said.

The woman was fined for failing to give way.
