BENDIGO and District Cycling Club’s Alexander Allott dealt with the sweltering conditions at the Moama Velodrome to take out the under 17 Victorian Pointscore Championship on day one of the Moama Bowling Club Junior Track Carnival.
A gruelling event at the best of times — a 54-lap race with sprints every eight laps — the 40-plus degree temperature only made it all the more draining.
But it couldn’t stop Allott from taking the state title, Henry Dietze in second with Allott’s Bendigo teammate Blake Agnoletto in third.
Tarun Cook won the under 15s (24 laps) from Alexander Jones and Jacob Henry.
In the women’s under 17 state title (40 laps), Hayley Jenkins won from Chelsea Symons and Isla Bradbury, while the under 15s (24 laps) went to Lucinda Stewart from Belinda Bailey and Sophie Sutton.
