A MAN has been charged with weapon offences after being allegedly found with a taser at an Echuca camping site on the weekend.

Senior Constable Simon O’Toole of Echuca police said the 30-year-old Kurri Kurri man had a verbal argument with a camper over his dog at Christie’s Beach about 9pm Saturday.

‘‘The man produced something from his back pocket which the camper said was a taser,’’ he said.

The camper reported the incident to police, who attended the campsite.

‘‘I located a taser in his vehicle,’’ Snr Constable O’Toole said.

‘‘He was interviewed and charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and bringing a prohibited weapon into Victoria.’’

Snr Constable O’Toole said no threats were made. The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
